Orcas Music

Orcatrazz is a full sized Swing Band, ready, willing and able to play the great dance hits of the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s:  In the Mood, A String of Pearls, Old Cape Cod, Take the A Train, Pennsylvania Polka, Night Train, Opus One, American Patrol and many, many more great dance tunes.  Saxophones, trumpets, trombones, drums, bass, piano and drums, Orcatrazz has it all: perfect for weddings, ballroom dances and party receptions.

Island Sinfonia plays classical music.  Our repertoire includes works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahams, Dvorak, Handel, Mozart, Haydn, Holst, Copland, Gershwin, Bartok, Schubert, Strauss and many others.  Rehearsals are on Saturday afternoons at the Orcas Island school band room.  Carrying their violins, cellos, flutes, oboes and horns, musicians from all over the San Juan Islands come to these enlightening and rewarding rehearsals under the diligent leadership of Jack Lynch, conductor.

New STRING PLAYERS are very welcome.

Every Monday, 7:00 – 9:00 pm, at the school band room, local musicians meet and enjoy the delights of playing band music together. From marches to ballads, from Baroque to Broadway, music is learned and appreciated. We play several concerts each year.

The conductor is Joe Babcock.

New members of all skill levels are welcome. So grab that horn, flute or drum which is just gathering dust in your closet and come join the fun.

I play saxophones, soprano, alto, tenor and baritone: mostly jazz but I also dabble in classical music.

Local groups include Orcatrazz (swing band), Sinfonia (classical), Community Band (eclectic, marches, etc.), Classical Duos (with Linda Slone on flute), Jazz Duos (with Madrone when I can track him down), and when I’m really lucky I play Jazz Trios (with Madrone and Martin Lund).

I also play keyboard, synthesizers and organ, for fun and as part of Dustin Fox’s backup band (look for his next performance in July at the Orcas Center….).

From time to time I also contribute here and there to various performances at the Orcas Center, private parties, et al.

I love to jam as well as rehearse seriously, and am open to any invitations.

Tre Voci is a sting trio featuring the talent of Pamela Wright on violin, Teresa Chocano on viola, and Holly King on cello.
